The Festive Rush

Hey everyone.  Sorry for our lack of posts in the last week.  As you can imagine the festive season is a little hectic and work is manic ( the downside of catering!).  I am baking Christmas wares like a crazy woman and seem to run out of time everyday.  I hope I can find time to post at least a couple of inspirational if not informative posts before Christmas.

Crackle Crackle!

I was out Christmas decoration shopping the other day and came across these lights which rocked my world.  I am known for my over excitement at this time of year, I just love it and to be honest, these just made my day!

 In relation to weddings in Greece I love the idea of having them on the table interwoven with flowers or herbs.  The light that reflects through the glass is similar to the light through water and is beautiful ( I may be sporting a string on my mantel piece!).

Not only can you get them in a string but also they come in a solo glass ball in two different sizes enabling you to give a variety on the table.  Check out johnlewis.com for price information and sizing's.

I adore them!

Sweet Baby's Breath

Now I am putting the inspiration for this post down to the snow we have had lately.  A friend of mine is getting married here in London in a couple of months with a theme of the ice hotel/skiing.  So when cruising the Internet one evening I came across these images and they reminded me of snow and I have decided they need to be shared.  I know, snow, in Greece?  But it does happen!  Anyhow, have a look.  I think they are beautiful.

I have come to the conclusion that baby's breath is highly underrated and should be considered more often as a choice of flowers for weddings.  It is simple yet beautiful and so delicate.

Gorgeous!

Greek Photographers: George Fotiadis

Carrying on our Greek wedding photographers portfolios I am so excited to show you the work of George Fotiadis.  He has worked as a photo journalist since 1993 and now specialises in wedding photo journalism.  He is based in Thessaloniki but like many Greek wedding photographers, he travels all over to photograph peoples weddings. Here is a small array of his work which are gorgeous!  First up are some colour photos;

and now for the black and whites!

I love the compositions of his shots and it really shows such a great blend of creativity and his journalistic background.  If you love him as much as I do check out his website for rates and more beautiful photographs   www.georgefotiadis.com .  Plain stunning really.

Adding a Dash fo Colour and Texture

When planning the look of the tables you may want to add a dash of colour to either all or just a few tables.  Greece is famous for its embroidered table cloths and napkins so why not incorporate this into your theme. On any Island or the mainland you will find little shops showcasing an array of embroidered goods, some are eyesores and some are beautiful.  You will also be able to find a vendor that will make to order what you want, so you can design your own.

I like the idea of having maybe half of the tables with the coloured napkins/runners on them and the rest having the same pattern but in white.  Not only would it provide accents of colour to the dining area but also just having the alternating plain embroidery will give texture to the tables.

Afterwards, once washed, they would make lovely mementos of you special day for yourselves, your parents and your in-laws.
