Greek Photographers: Magdalene Kourti

Magdalene Kourti has studied fine art in WSA and has a Master degree in digital image by the Metropolitan University of London . Being a painter and a video artist has influenced is immediately evident in her photography work, which captures emotion and movement beautifully!  Her typical clientele consists of couples that look for something different on their wedding day. I would definitely say that she is the photographer to go to when you want a clear journalistic approach to the photographic coverage of your wedding day, rather than perfect, magazine type images! To me emotion makes for the most incredible pictures!

Magdalene is happy to travel for weddings in or out of Greece and offers a team with her co-partner Kostas Agiannitis for creative photography & videography.

Greek Photographers: Petros Sordinas

Petros Sordinas has won seven photography contests with his stunning images and it is easy to see why.  I came across this first image and was already hooked on his style and ability to capture in the moment emotion.   He is based in Greece and travels all over the mainland and islands photographing weddings, as well as abroad.  Below are some examples of how he captures, usually, unseen backstage moments of a wedding.

The kiss between the two old ladies is heart stopping.  What a beautiful example of emotion, I love it!  I am also highly amused by the little girl squeezing her face.  That is such an awesome shot!  Made me laugh for at least ten minutes...we have all done it!

Greek Photographers: Nikos Papadopoulos Gogas

I thought I might showcase some Greek wedding photographers so that you can all see what great photographers you can find in Greece for your wedding.  I am starting with  Nikos Papadopoulos Gogas.  He has been in the industry for over 20 years working in the fashion industry as well as being a freelance wedding and portrait photographer.  He studied in London and has gone on to win numerous awards for his shots.  Here is some of his work, which I loved.

Nikos is a destination wedding photographer and will travel all over Greece and Europe to cover weddings.  His website is www.nikophotography.gr and he also has a blog www.nikosgogas.com/blog both showcasing a wide variety of his shots.

Our common vice, wedding photography!!

At the start of my career, I can't say that I had any interest or even an opinion on wedding photography. In fact due to the lack of internet and the fact that I never bought or looked at wedding magazines, I think my only experience of wedding photos would have come through the framed pictures of my family's weddings and perhaps the odd wedding album of my Greek friends. Not a good start really!
At some point, I suddenly saw some images that attracted my attention, I then started to research and look into what is out there, it was such a pleasant surprise!
So on to today, I have become very opinionated about wedding photography, I appreciate this art form, I constantly look at ideas, options, shoots to get inspiration, however at all times I always return to the same core belief:

If a photographer can take four or five candid unposed shots of you, through which you can see the emotion, the look, the atmosphere of the day, nothing else matters. These five shots tell the story, you should love looking at them and they will always take you back to that day. Of course you should have many shots that show the details and tell the entire story, so you don't forget anything, but those are the shots everyone will love!
